Finally made it to Frank Fat's downtown location. A group of us stopped by for dinner after a conference and they were able to quickly accommodate us. Everything is ordered family style, so we got 5-6 dishes for the six of us. It was just the right amount for everyone and we finished all the dishes. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. The staff were wonderful, from the hostess helping my friend get gum off his crutch to the server checking in the perfect amount. I also placed a separate order to go and it was done very quickly.

We loved the decor and ambience. We also appreciated the excellent, efficient, sweet and friendly service from Sherry. Lastly, we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh and delicious food. We recommend sharing the Combination Platter as an appetizer, and the Triple Crown Kung Pao entree. You also have to save room for both the chocolate cream and banana cream pies! If you find yourself in Sacramento in search of fantastic Chinese food, check out Frank FatÒ€ℒs! You and your stomach will be happy you did!!

I had heard about Frank Fat's a number of times since moving to Sacramento and finally decided to check it out. After eating here, it's clear to me why it's a Sacramento institution. The food is delicious and pretty much exactly what was promised, upscale Chinese in a fancier setting. My one criticism is the interior/decorations look like it has been an institution for decades. But who really cares about the decor when the food is good?! Pretty much everything we had, aside from the Chinese chicken salad exceeded our expectations. Plenty of Chinese comfort food - but elevated. The service was solid. Still, what I'll be dreaming about and what will likely bring me back to Frank Fat's is the ridiculously good banana cream pie. Heaps of fresh banana, a buttery, flaky crust and perfectly, not too sweet cream. Hands down the best banana cream pie I've ever had.

Wow! The food was amazing! Lunch service was a bit slow for us (as we had a tight lunch schedule) so we ended up taking our lunch order to go. The food was so delicious! I'll bet it's probably even better when you have your meal there.

Kenny is the man! Who's Ken or Kenny you ask?Ken Young is the general manager of this location and he's the most sincere guy you'll meet. He makes sure everything is up to par and that you feel at home at Frank Fat's. The food is quality Chinese that offers a bit different flair than your typical restaurant. For example they make fried calamari with a very crunchy and fresh batter. It's then topped with a slice of jalapeno. Now for the best part... They are known for their Banana Cream Pie of which they have prefected. The white cream is made in house combined with the flakey crust. Wow. Just. Wow!Highly recommend this place for the good people, the fun atmosphere, and the quality food.

Travel to Sacramento a lot for work and this has become a staple for delicious food every time. Highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp and the immigrant beef. The restaurant itself is really beautiful, art deco asian decor along with some items with history behind them. The menu tells you more about them which is really cool.

As well as being delicious, I really appreciate the care taken for my vegan diet and a friends shellfish allergy. They were very careful, considerate, explained what was in each dish, and (this is huge) they didn't seem to mind at all. 5 stars indeed!

We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. The ambiance was good, staff was very friendly, food was good. We especially liked the spring rolls and immigrant beef. The banana cream pie was awesome. I would definitely go back.

I was in Sacramento for just a night before flying back home so Frank Fat's was on my radar to check out. We sat at the bar and loved the space. Our bartender was very friendly and helpful explain the menu with his spot on recommendations as well! The chow mein was spot on and delicious! Also couldn't pass up the banana cream pie for dessert. Great flavors, impeccable service and awesome experience all around, will definitely be back!

I celebrated my PhD last night in this fine place. Well we passed a sensational evening and the venue was undoubtedly one of the reasons for that strong evening. The team helped in a graceful style, the cooking was extremely good and my friends were very pleased. We shall no dout visit again for more events. thanks very much.

We came here to celebrate Valentine's. The atmosphere is cozy and welcome. We ordered appetite platter, Peking duck, Seafood pot, MaPo tofu and banana crème pie. They are all great except the MaPo tofu. It tastes like tofu soaked in sweet soy sauce and not enough black bean taste.

Great food in a long established restaurant in downtown. Parking is right next door. We had a price fix dinner. Everything was great, atmosphere, food and staff.

Excellent experience at Frank Fats. We were in town for a conference and stopped for lunch before heading home. The food was excellent, and the service terrific. Everyone was engaging and helpful. There were 4 of us and we all ordered different dishes - everyone loved their food. Will definitely visit the next time we are in town.

A Sacramento institution that does not disappoint. Webster's definition of the word "Sublime" covers my critique of Frank Fats, perfectly: "...of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe."

The original! Delicious Chinese food in downtown Sacramento, in an old-school setting reminiscent of 1950's high-end restaurants. Menu a little less varied than the Fat's Asia Bistro in Folsom (at least for lunch), but the food is just as good. An absolute must for those seeking an authentic taste of Sacramento!

Unassuming entrance to a small funky space. Reservations recommended, especially for Friday & Saturday night. The bar handles the overflow and is a great place for 1 or 2. Spend time with the menu, order an app & drink while you consider the options. If you like to add spice try the black bean chili oil instead of the standard chili oil.

The food and service was excellent. They managed to fit Us in without a reservation on a Friday night. Had to order and leave quickly, to accommodate that reservation coming in after us. I was very surprised at the nice clean restaurant inside of a hole in the wall between two parking garages. The food and service was even more of a surprise as it was very good also.

I mean it's good, but I definitely had better orange chicken and fried rice. If you want basic Chinese food, like I do, definitely not the place. The fried rice and orange chicken didn't match the worth of it. The chow mien and duck was wonderful! It does deserve 4 stars based on service! The staff was extremely nice.

Excellent atmosphere and food. Very busy at lunch but they easily found room for a single. They appeared to have great cocktails also but too early for me. So many food options. I need to return!
